|Do You Speak the Language of Desire 1992||36" x 15" x 5"|
This work has yellowed and slightly warped.
|This is paper, glued-up clippings of newspapers collected from all over the world, all dealing with "that ol' same thing." In Thai, Georgian, Hebrew, Arabic, English and Japanese. Displayed in The Nude Show 1993.||Inspired by the maskmakers of Vittorio, Italy who make Carnevale masks in the spirit of 'arte povera' -- cheap materials. They paint over their newsprint paper laminates. Met when they visited Memphis as part of Memphis in May in 1991.|
